Building Community Strength Against Wildfire Threats

Discover vital tools and guides to boost wildfire preparedness and community safety.

Are You Prepared for Wildfire Season?

Know how and where to get reliable information on wildfire threats and weather as we head into the 2025 fire season. Take time NOW to register for emergency alerts and add the following recommended apps and websites to your phones and computers.

Sign up for Evacuation Alerts

AlertSCC https://oem.santaclaracounty.gov/prepare-4-steps/register-alerts sign up for Santa Clara County alerts.

Genasys Protect (formerly Zonehaven)  https://protect.genasys.com/zones/US-CA-XCZ-CRZ-E027 or download App. Evacuation Warnings & Orders.  We are in Zone CRZ-E027.

PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs  www.pge.com/mywildfirealerts to sign up for power shut-off alerts.

Monitor Fire Weather and Fuel Conditions

NWS Deep Weather App  National Weather Service App.  The Santa Cruz mountains are in Fire Weather Zone 512.

California Fire Weather  https://gacc.nifc.gov/oncc/predictive/weather/index.htm# Also links to fire danger outlooks, fuel moisture, predictive services, etc.

Monitor Fire Activity

Watch Dutywww.watchduty.org or download app  Realtime, vetted, information on fires and evacuations.  Recommend registering for Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and San Mateo counties.

PulsePointwww.Pulsepoint.org  – download the app and follow CZU (Santa Cruz County Fire), Boulder Creek, plus other local FD’s.  Recommend filtering out medical incidents (go to ‘preferences’ and de-select medical incidents) to reduce clutter.  Note that PulsePoint often shows the reporting address as the incident location – so if someone on Favre Ridge calls in column of smoke in Lost Valley, the location may show Favre Ridge instead of Lost Valley.

Cal Fire Incidents https://plan.readyforwildfire.org/en/incidents Can search by zip code.

UC Extension Fire Map https://ucanr.edu/statewide-program/uc-anr-fire-network/fire-activity-map. Includes Perimeter and Hot Spot maps. Zoom in to your area.

Cal Fire CZU Twitter Feed https://x.com/CALFIRECZU.  Current local fire information.
